Galaxy von A bis Z: Die Samsung-Modellreihen im Überblick

Das erste Galaxy-Smartphone von Samsung erschien im Jahr 2009 mit 3,2-Zoll-Display, 5-Megapixel-Kamera und Android 1.6 Donut. Es hatte noch schlicht den Namen Samsung Galaxy, der seither mit Zusätzen für immer weitere Smartphones und später auch andere Mobilgeräte verwendet wurde.

Der prominenteste Vertreter ist heute die Galaxy-S-Serie. Deren Begründer, das Samsung Galaxy S, erschien 2010. Das S steht für "Super Smart" und kennzeichnet seither die High-End-Smartphones von Samsung. Die Galaxy-S-Serie entwickelte sich schnell zum direkten Hauptkonkurrenten der jeweiligen Apple-iPhone-Generation. Heute gehört das Galaxy S jedes Jahr zu den meistverkauften Smartphones der Welt.

Mit der Zeit wuchs die Galaxy-Familie weiter an. Die Galaxy-Note-Serie wurde ab 2011 als High-End-Modell mit extra großem Display und optionaler Stiftbedienung etabliert. Dazu kamen unter wechselnden Bezeichnungen verschiedene Einsteiger- und Mittelklasse-Smartphones die heute in Serien wie Galaxy A (für "ExtrA"), Galaxy J (für "Joy") und Galaxy XCover mündeten. Seit 2019 gibt es auch die Galaxy-M-Serie im Einsteigerbereich. Außerdem hat Samsung 2019 mit dem Galaxy Fold ein erstes faltbares Smartphone vorgestellt. Ab 2020 begann Samsung den neuen Formfaktor in der Serie Galaxy Z zu etablieren.
